Looking for a volunteer job that is just right for you, but you don’t now where to start? Start here! The Volunteer Referral Center (VRC) will help you find just the right volunteer opportunity to fit your interests and skills. HOW DOES IT WORK? VRC is a service organization that serves both the needs of not-for-profit agencies and volunteers. VRC matches volunteers with non-profit agencies in NYC that need them.
VRC has a personal approach towards prospective volunteers like you. We believe that the right volunteer position begins with you and what you find rewarding. In a free, one-on-one interview with our counselors, we will try to find the best match for you.
We work with many New York-based non-profits so there is a wide variety from which to choose. Your counselor will be able to give you more information about prospective agencies, their mission, and their volunteer needs. Usually, you will receive two or three referrals to agencies that might be good matches for you. If possible, during the interview VRC will also try to arrange an appointment with the volunteer director of the agencies that you find particularly interesting. We will also follow up with you to see how it worked out. Call 212-889-4805 to request a free interview, or click here to fill out our online request form.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES DO YOU HAVE?
Our agencies vary from AIDS hospices to museum work, from children’s programs to Botanical Gardens, from care for the elderly to prison reform programs, from soup kitchens to the Zoo. New York’s non-profits provide vital support for the city’s needy and enrich its cultural offerings. They need volunteers like you to deliver their services. Help non-profits by donating your time and providing professional services, office support or creative contributions. You can offer a few hours a month or several hours a week, seek something local or travel the city.
